Georgia JoAnn Langham

Joann was born August 19, 1949 to the late David White and Orene Lightfoot White. She departed this earthly life, Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Joann accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Town Creek, AL, where for some years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Usher Board and Choir. Joann was a graduate of Central High School (1968). She was a proud graduate of Alabama A&M University where she received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. Joann taught in the Lawrence County School System for 31 years until her retirement in 2003 and she continued to work in the Lawrence County School System another 4 years after her retirement. Joann was united in holy matrimony to Lee Andrew Langham and to that union two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, David White and Hoover White; and three sisters: Susie Hardy, Bertha James, and Laura Faison. Joann leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Lee Andrew; two daughters: Sherene Langham, North Courtland, AL and Adriane Langham, Huntsville, AL; one grandson, Brayden LeAndrew Langham, North Courtland, AL; a devoted great-grandniece, Ashontae Johnson, Nashville, TN; a devoted young man she called her Son, Cedric (Katrice) Hampton; Birmingham, AL; four brothers: Mylun (Eloise) White, North Courtland, AL, Albert Robinson, Sheffield, AL, Louis (Mollie) White, Courtland, AL and J.C. (Cynthia) Robinson, Decatur, AL; five sisters: Ernestine White, North Courtland, AL, Mattie S. (William) Dixon, Mt. Vernon, NY, Dorothy White and Dorothy Green both of North Courtland, AL, and Carolyn (Eddie) Reedus, Huntsville, AL; mother-in-law: Mrs. Bertha Langham, Town Creek, AL; four sisters-in-law: Elaine White, North Courtland, AL, Barbara White, Bronx, NY, Annie Mae Neloms, Leighton, AL and Bertha Jones, Hillsboro, AL; two brothers-in-law: Roy (Nadine) Langham, Courtland, AL and Steve (Carolyn) Langham, Town Creek, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and co-workers. Also, a special former neighbor, whom she also thought of as a daughter, Riunita Martin, Madison, AL. Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 11, 2017, 5-7:00pm, Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, AL.Funeral service for Mrs. Langham will be:1:00pm ~ Tuesday, December 12, 2017Mt.
