Reverend Alma Alfredia Striplin was born February 11, 1931, in Conecuh County, Alabama, to the late Robert Bernard and the late Catherine Gill Bernard.
She passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her home in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
As a young girl, Rev. Striplin attended Lakeview School in Guntersville, Alabama.
She was a member of the St. Paul MB Church in Albertville, Alabama, where she confessed hope in Christ at an early age. As she grew in Christ, she became a member of the missionary society and taught Sunday school. She later joined Mt. Calvary MB Church, in Albertville, Alabama, and during her membership there, she accepted her call into the ministry and was ordained. She remained there and worked faithfully until her health began to fail. She came to live with her oldest daughter/caregiver. She, then, became a member of Mt. Zion CPCA, in Killen, Alabama. She also spent time worshipping with a sister church Hopewell CPCA, Leighton, Alabama. Prior to it becoming difficult for her to be mobile she loved attending the East Colbert Senior Center. She also loved watching Family Feud game show and would literally laugh out loud. “Big Mama” as she was affectionately called was a very kind should. She was careful to always say “thank you” for anything anyone did for her, big or small.
