Arfonzia Hawkins, also known as “Fonzia” and also as“Hawk,” was born on August 1, 1944, to the late Mr. andMrs. Robert Lee Hawkins of Leighton, Alabama. Arfonzia departed this life on April 24, 2024, after a brief illness.
He confessed Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama. He later joined Mount Carmel M.B. Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Arfonzia Hawkins graduated from Leighton Training School in 1963. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Alabama A&M University on the ninth day of August, 1968. He was initiated into Kappa Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., on November 30, 1974. Arfonzia, upon graduating from college, was hired as a math teacher at Cherokee Vocational School. He later worked at Alabama Reclamation Plant as a supervisor and later worked as a lab technician until retirement.
He was united in holy matrimony on August 12, 1972, to Patricia Crutch. This union was blessed with two sons, Roric and Alric, and one daughter, Patrice.
On April 24, 2024, the Lord, our Father in Heaven, saw fit to call him home. His memory will live forever. Arfornzia Hawkins, was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Hawkins and Barbara Parker Hawkins and two brothers Robert Carson Hawkins and Parker Lee Hawkins.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Wife for fifty-one years, Patricia Hawkins, two sons: CPT. Roric Hawkins (Cheryl) of Spring, TX and Dr. Alric Hawkins (Dwyla) of Houston, TX; one daughter, Dr. Patrice Hawkins of Nashville, TN; three grandsons, Ronnie, Roric Hawkins, Jr., and Cameron of Spring, TX; one granddaughter, Jaelin (Patrick) of Panama City, FL; a sister, Wyomina (Tommy) Croone of Leighton, AL; a brother, Horace Hawkins, Sr. of Morrow, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
