Brenda Shell Tubbs was born on October 1, 1960, in Cleveland, MS, to the late Dorothy Tubbs Walker and Bevery Walker, Sr. She was a strong, independent, and vibrant woman who lived life fully until her passing on Friday, March 21, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center.
At a young age, Brenda gave her life to Christ. She later became a devoted member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, AL, where she faithfully worshipped until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
A proud graduate of East Side High School’s Class of 1979 in Cleveland, MS, Brenda pursued a career in healthcare after graduation. She worked as a nurse, podiatrist assistant, and caregiver, dedicating many years to serving others with compassion. Her passion for helping people was evident in all that she did.
Brenda’s greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved her daughters, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her three daughters: Tomeka Tubbs (Florence, AL), Lekesha Tubbs-Hadley (Chris) (Jackson, MS), and Airell Tubbs (Florence, AL). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to four beloved grandchildren: Brandon Tubbs (Florence, AL), Christopher Hadley (Atlanta, GA), Brittney Tubbs (Florence, AL), and Shelby Hadley (Jackson, MS).
Brenda’s memory will continue to live on through her surviving siblings: Lee Ethel Lloyd (Cleveland, MS) and Ruby Brown (Darrell) (Moncks, SC), as well as her three sisters-in-law: Vera Tubbs, May Tubbs, and Mimi Tubbs.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her presence in their lives. Brenda was the fifth of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Eddie Tubbs, Larry Tubbs, Ronnie Tubbs, Sr., Joyce Tubbs, Andra Tubbs, and Bevery Walker, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her high school sweetheart, Jasper L. Butler.
Brenda will be remembered most for her infectious smile, loving spirit, and kind heart. She touched the lives of many and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
