Rufus Slack, officiatingInterment in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, AlabamaThe body will be placed in the church one hour prior.Visitation with the family Friday, 6-8:00pm.Mrs. Catherine McCray was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Silas and Onell Hayes on March 7, 1941 in Greenville, Alabama. She attended public school in Crenshaw County Alabama and graduated from Luverne Training High School. Catherine chose Jesus at an early age at the Bethlehem Baptist Church and later joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Sheffield where she served as Sunday school teacher, finance committee member, hospitality, new membership, trustee, nurses guild, choir, Youth usher board, and faithful Sunday school student. She was united in marriage to Grafton McCray on July 31, 1965 and to this union three children was born. Two children Grafton Jr., and Paula preceded her in death. Catherine was also preceded in death by three sisters Mattie (Ed) Carter, Overia (Frank) Brown, Annie Johnson and three brothers Lee Hayes, Edward Hayes, Wilbert HayesCatherine leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son Marcus McCray (Aleshia). five sisters Louise Loving, of Cleveland, OH; Earnestine (Rizell) Simmons and Jennie V. Daniels of Orlando FL; Ruby Hayes of Rutledge, AL; and Hattie (husband Riley children Yvette, Anton, Jabari, Alesha, and Justice ) Young, Muscle Shoals, AL; two brother-in-laws Sammy McCray (wife Elizabeth, children Rodney and Tracey) and McCline Johnson; one sister-in-law Ceola Hayes of Cleveland, OH a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and devoted friends Johnnie White, Bertha Davis, Joyce Washington, Ann Gunn and John Perdue of Montgomery, AL; four God children Myrahya Jackson, Jamie Cheattom, Vickie Abernathy, and Valerie Foster. Catherine was "Granny" to one child her dear Madison Catherine McCray.Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, Directing
