Mr. Charles Edward Bowens was born July 21, 1954 in Rogersville (Lauderdale County), Alabama to the late Albert and Mattie Bowens, Sr. His transition from this earthly life to his eternal home was on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center.
Charles confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Bethel Lauderdale M. B. Church.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Janice Marie Poole on December 28, 2001 and they remained faithful to each other for 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Albert and Mattie Bowens, Sr. Son: Charles Terrell Thomas, Sisters: Mary Simmons Patton, Madella Bowens, Moedella Bowens, Cleo L.
Wilson, Nona Bell Bowens Jordan, and Lula Stamper. Brothers: George Washington Simmons, William Henry Simmons, Sr. and Ronnie Jean Bowens.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of 23 years, Janice Poole Bowens; Son: Anthony Betts; Daughters: Yolanda Butler, Sheritha Almon, and Charmain Vaughn; Grandchildren: Orlandious T. Butler, A’landria L. Butler, Heavenly Almonn and JaKaylar Vaughn; Great Grandson: Bryson C. Butler; Sister: Doris (Pastor Lawrence) Fuqua; Brother: Albert Bowens, Jr.; Sister-in-Laws: Shirley Bowens, Hazel Simmons, Jeanie Poole and Min. Arnattta Poole; Brother- in-Laws: Allen Poole, Alton Poole and Donnie Poole; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
