Christine Thompson

Servant of God well done rest from thy love employ. The battle fought, the victory won, entered The Master Joy.

Once again, it has pleased our Heavenly Father to translate from the labor of this life to the sweet rest and fellowship of the saints in heaven, another Christian going home.

Mrs. Christine McCray Thompson was born on February 24,1925, to LaFrazia McCray. After the death of her mother and grandmother at an early age, her grandfather, Robert Ricks, in the Bear Creek area raised her. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. She later joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Cherokee, where she served in the senior choir, Missionary Society, and Deaconess.

She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, Mr. Lonnie Thompson, Jr.; a son, Rufus Thompson; a daughter, Lula Beckwith; two grandsons, Velasquez and Devonte Thompson; two brothers, Robert McCray (Julia) and Earl Lee Douglas (Jerline); a sister, Maizie Thompson (Nelson); two sisters-in-law, Elois Gunn
(Arthur) and Lula Curtis (Robert); and two brothers-in-law, Charles Thompson (Lemyrtle) and Floyd Thompson. 

Those left to cherish her memory: a devoted daughter, Hattie Thompson of Cherokee, AL; two devoted sons, James Thompson (Mellitie) of Sheffield, AL, and Freddie L. Thompson (Darlene) of
Cherokee, AL; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Thompson of Florence, AL; son-in-law, Danny Beckwith, Sr., of Muscle Shoals, AL; two brothers-in-law, Reverend Estes L. Thompson (Shirley) and Chaise Thompson (Allean), both of Huntsville, AL; ten grandchildren, Valesquez Thompson, Marocus Thompson (Andrea), DeMarco Thompson (Marla), Demontris Thompson (Ashlee), Danny R. Beckwith, Jr. (Stacey), Dequan Beckwith, Niquita Thompson, Natashia Thompson, Kamonta Thompson, and LaCondria Beckwith; twenty-nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; dedicated caregivers, Inetha Pride, Jackie Rutland, Glenda Simpson and Darlene Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
