Donald Carnell Flie was born on March 30, 1956, to Dora and Auburn Bivens in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
He departed this life on April 26, 2026, at NAMC after a lengthy illness.
His mother died when he was two months old and he was then adopted by his grandparents, Junior and Mamie Flie.
After attending high school he enlisted into the Army and discovered his love for cooking. He loved cooking on the grill. He was happy when he could spend time with family and friends grilling on special occasions. He also loved fishing and would sometimes stay on the river all day.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He was very active in the church all his life. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and became a Minister early last year.
Donald knew everybody. And if he did not know you, he knew your relatives. He loved people, especially children. Once when driving the school bus, he decided to take the kids to McDonalds for a treat. Of course, he had no permission to do this and could not understand why he had to have permission from the parents. The kids had a great time.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Recita Flie; son, Donald Flie, Jr.; daughter, Nicole Flie; and very special son, Jakyous Abernathy, who was “his boy,” the joy of his life; plus, numerous grandchildren, other family, and friends.
