Fulbright, officiatingInterment in Shoals Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia, AlabamaThe body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, 4-6:00pm.Mrs. Horton was born on January 14, 1930 in Russellville, AL., to the late Birdie Cole Braden and Clark Cole. She accepted the Lord at an early age. She was married to the late Arthur W. Horton, Sr. Mrs. Horton was an advocate of education and completed her education during her adult years. She graduated from Sterling High School in Sheffield, AL and proceeded to college at Alabama A&M where she received her Bachelor's degree. From there she attended George Peabody College in Nashville, TN and University of North Alabama where she received her Masters of Education Degree. Until her retirement, Mrs. Horton taught in the Florence City Schools and nourished the minds and delighted the hearts of young students for many years. Mrs. Horton was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be missed by everyone whose life she has touched. She leaves to cherish her memory: six loving children, Frances Griffin-Brown (Felton) Germantown, TN, Lt. Col (ret.) Arthur Horton, Jr., (Patricia) Baltimore, MD, Dr. Birdie Irene Bailey, (Bernard) Sheffield, AL, Tereasa Washington, Esq. (Snyder) Toney, AL, Dr. James Horton (Chiquita), Bel-Air, MD and Denise Horton, Baltimore, MD; one sister, Frances Cole Laster (Dallas, TX), two sisters-in law, Cora Savage (Ypsilanti, MI), Isabel Davis,( Highland Park, MI); sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W.
