Ella Lee (Southward) Farris was born December 12, 1940, in Maud, Alabama. She was the first-born daughter to the late L.C. and Lottie May Southward. She departed this life on June 28, 2026, at her residence.
She accepted Christ as her personal savior at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cloverdale, Alabama. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was very humble. Ella was an excellent example of a virtuous, victorious, and resilient wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cousin. She was a self-taught seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years: Henry Lee Farris; her son: Jerry Farris; four sisters: Thelma Spencer, Area McDaniel, Lula Mae Thorne, and Shirley Sullivan; one brother: Jim Earl Southward; six brothers-in-law: George Farris Jr., A.J. Farris, Hoover Farris, Lawrence Farris, James Earl Farris, Robert Earl Farris; two sisters-in-law: Lorene Farris and Laura Farris.
Ella is survived by her loving and devoted sons: Stanley (Cynthia) Southward and Ellis Ray (Sherry) Southward; a daughter: Ruby Stewart; daughter-in-law: Jorja Farris; siblings: Mamie Mason, Earnestine Taylor, Pearline Love, Minnie Southward, Martha (Harry) Bonds, Jeffrey (Zera) Southward, Royce Southward, Bobby (Vickie) Southward, Benny Southward, and Ricky Southward; brothers-in-law: Walter Farris and Arthur Lewis (Louise) Farris; sisters-in-law: Vera(Joe) Allen, Ruby Farris, and Brenda Farris; five grandchildren: Ellis “Peddie” (Viese) Southward, Edward (Isela) Southward, Reka Southward, Sidney Southward, Zack Harris; eight great- grandchildren: Ellis III, Kruz, Evan, Jala, Milli, Araya, Nyella, and Zariah; special nephews: Ricky, Randy, and Josh Southward; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
