Ms. Ethel Poke Vinson was born on May 1, 1940, in Landersville, Alabama, to the late Willie and Daisy Rene Poke. She departed this life on June 28, 2024.
She was the eldest of two daughters. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Town Creek #1 Landersville, Alabama.
As an adult, she joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Sheffield under the leadership of the late Reverend Greer. She was a faithful member until her health declined. She graduated from Moulton High School and after high school, she served as a dedicated nurses aid. She retired from Alabama Reclamation (Wise Alloy’s) in 2000. She was an avid traveler, exceptional bowler, and diehard Alabama fan (Roll Tide)! She also joined a motorcycle club, even though she didn’t ride.
Ms. Ethel Vinson was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by two of her grandchildren, Eric McArthur and Miyesha Bryant.
She was survived by: her sister, Willie Pearl Cooper of Sheffield, AL; four children, Pricilla McArthur of Sheffield, AL, Roderick (Marilyn) Vinson of Loganville, GA, Kenneth (Kim) Vinson of Sheffield, AL, and Eric (Danielle) Tolson Dozier of Anniston, AL; seven grandchildren, Carlos McArthur of Sheffield, AL, LeShayla (Shawn) Cooke of Hampton, GA, Reanardus Vinson of Florence, AL, Terrishia (Omar) Wilson of Montgomery, AL, Kendra Vinson and Jasmine Vinson, both of Atlanta, GA, and Rodnesha (Gaston) Dillon of Columbus, GA; a host of great-grandchildren, great-
great-grandchildren, and extended kids that call her mama; niece, Myra Cooper; nephew, Paul Stacy Cooper; special cousin, Wanda Thirkill Hill; and dedicated friends,
Geraldine Dubois and Edna Young.
