Etta Summerhill Burgess Obituary

Etta Lee Burgess was born on February 12, 1934, to William Summerhill and Hannah Hampton.

She was baptized at a young age and remained a dedicated member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church for 75 years. Ms. Burgess was a graduate of Burrell Slater High School.

At the time of her passing, she served as a mother of the church.

She was preceded in death by her daughters: Jacquelyn Neal, Eleanor Carter, and Evernita Harvey; her parents: Hannah Hampton and William Summerhill; her grandparents, Ella Summerhill and William Summerhill, who raised her; and her brothers: James Roger Summerhill and Johnny Carrol.

Etta Lee Burgess is survived by her daughters, Karen Brooks of Toledo, OH, and Ella Scott of Florence, AL; her sons, William (Ann) Scott of Radcliff, KY, Roger (Dorothy) Scott of Florence, AL, and Gabriel Scott of Florence, AL; sister, Brenda Sanders, Lima, OH; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.
