Ms. Evelyn Ann King was born October 28, 1965, to the late Mr. Richard King and Ms. Nellie Ruth Jordan. She departed this life on November 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Evelyn, known as “Poon,” accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, AL.
Evelyn graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1984. She was a devoted caregiver for more than 30 years. During her years as a CNA, she touched many lives.
Evelyn was the cook of the family and was especially known for her amazing baking skills. She continued her mom’s holiday traditions in the kitchen.
Evelyn was especially devoted to her girls, Mar’che, Jaislyn,and Jaiya. She loved them dearly.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her brothers, James and Mark King. Her memories will be cherished by her one and only daughter: Mar’che King; two granddaughters: Jaislyn and Jaiya Gamble, Florence, AL; three brothers: Rev. Earnest Smith, Sr. (Claudia), Tuscumbia, AL; Elijah Smith, Florence, AL, Eddie King (Jonesboro, Georgia); five sisters: Dora Asher, Cassandra Patterson, Aretha Evans (Ray), Shelia Woods (Carlos), of Florence, A:, and Kathy Russell, Muscle Shoals, AL. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
