On May 30, 2025, FLORENCE VERNITA MANNING, age 78, took her last breath and peacefully passed away at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
She was born on July 22, 1946, in She eld, Alabama. Her family moved to Florence, Alabama, where she lived and confessed faith in Christ at an early age at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, until her graduation from Burrell Slater High School.
She attended Tennessee State University and moved to Los Angeles, California, where she worked as a registered nurse at LA County Hospital until she retired in 2013. A er retiring, she moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia, where she lived and attended Berean Christian Church in her community.
Vernita believed in God and family first, even before herself. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend, and confidant who had an impact on everyone who came into her life. We were so proud and blessed to have had her in our lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Escille Cole; two brothers, Maurice and Carl Cole; niece, Tamika White; and longtime companion, Clyde Anthony.
Vernita leaves on this earth to cherish her memories: a daughter: Kenosha Manning, Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren: Savion and Dia Manning, both of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren: Zayden and Kira Hunt, both of Los Angeles, CA; sisters: Sharon (Alan) Johnson, Killen, AL, Veronica Cole, Indianapolis, IN; nephews: Roderick (Aerin) Cole, Stone Mountain, GA, Kenneth Wilson, Jr., Florence, AL, Joel (Katie) Cole, Lilburn, GA, Mauricus White, Foley, AL; a godchild: Athena Crawford, Memphis, TN; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
