Geraldine Box Freeman was born on July 22, 1950, in Russellville, Alabama, to the late Clarence Box, Sr. and Josephine Box.
She departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Geraldine gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Russellville, AL, where she served for many years as the church clerk, usher and a devoted member of the Missionary Society.
She was a 1968 graduate of Reedtown High School, which was the last graduating class of the school.
Following her graduation, she began her career as a seamstress at Russellville Sportswear and later at H.D. Lee, where she retired after many years of dedicated service. Geraldine went on to receive her degree from Northwest Community College and then worked as the office assistant at the Medicaid Office in Florence, AL. Geraldine was also a proud member of the Golden Chapter Order of Eastern Star #16.
She was united in marriage to the late Walter M. Freeman, and to this union two children were born. Geraldine was a loving mother grandmother, auntie, friend and neighbor who cherished her family deeply. She loved to travel and spend time with family, and she took great joy in cooking for those she loved. Geraldine was often described as a quiet storm with a gentle spirit, yet a loving force to all who knew her.
Geraldine leaves behind cherished memories to her son, Cedric Morris Freeman; her daughter, Kendra Chilsom; grandson, Cedric M. Freeman, Jr.; and granddaughter, Kennedy Leigh Chilsom.
