Gloria “Glo” Ann (West) Babb was born March 4, 1953, to John Ivory and Annie Beatrice West in Russellville, AL.
She was the 5th of 15 children. As a young girl, she attended Reedtown High School, and loved to play softball.
She went on to graduate from Russellville High School in 1971.
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and served faithfully as an alto singer in the choir at both First Baptist church in Russellville, AL, and at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Madison, TN.
She also loved to use her beautiful gift of song in multiple singing groups such as The Crystalites R&B group, The Inspirational Singers, and The Inner Circle Gospel Groups.
She retired from her position as assistant vice president of Cokesbury Publishing Company in Nashville, TN.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, John Ivory West, and 3 brothers, George (Mary Jo), Sean, and Reverend Michael West (Betty). She is survived by her mother, Annie Beatrice West, 2 daughters, Kayrin Newman and Porsha West, 4 grandchildren, Devon, Destiny, Dallas and Dawson Newman, 6 sisters, Mollie Young, Ella West, Linda McGuire, Mary Stewart, Janet Groce and Phyllis Green (Harold), 5 brothers, John, Earl, Greg, Tony, and Timothy (Wanda) and Devoted caregiver and friend Richard Wayne Anderson.
Gloria’s sunset was on July 15, 2024 at AHC Northside Senior Living Facility in Murfreesboro, TN.
