Gregory Johnson Obituary

Gregory Wayne Johnson “Bone” was born on September 24, 1964, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to the parents of Nelson J. Johnson and the late Brenda J. Johnson.

Greg departed this life on June 4, 2026, in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

He confessed his life and later rejoined Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.

Greg, affectionately known as “Bone,” will be remembered for riding his bicycle or walking around the city, talking mess to everyone. He bumped into many people on his path and called them all his cousins. Bone had a lot of phrases that would make you laugh so hard. He would say, “How ya like me now,” “Dat way,” “You hear me, don’t you,” and “I’m Debonair.” But before leaving, he would always let you know that he loved you.

No matter what his walk in life, Bone did not mind working or helping anybody whenever he could. Like all of us, he was not perfect. He fought some hard battles throughout his life, but he knew and believed in God’s Word. He loved the Lord, even when life was not easy and even when he struggled. People may have remembered and acknowledged the mistakes and choices he made while here, but today we remember his heart, his faith, and the fact that he never stopped believing in God.

Greg was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Johnson, mother, Brenda J. Johnson; grandmother, Evelyn “Tootsie” Johnson, Beatrice “MaBea” Johnson; brother, Nelson Johnson Jr.; sister, Nelsoandra  Cole; uncle, Larry Rutland; and aunt, Margaret Ann Rutland, and sister-in-law, Jackie Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Brittany Davis, Whitney Davis, and Tashea Davis; three sons, Gregory Johnson Jr., Bobby Davis, and Cedric Davis (there mother, the late Brenda C. Johnson);  three grandchildren, Chandler Freeman, Aaliyah Davis, and Zameir Cooper; one brother, Michael Johnson; sisters, Nina Freeman, Nel’neka Fender, and LaWanda Wess; uncles, Walter Rutland, Kerry Paul Tompkins(Nita), James Thompkins(Jean), Emmitt Tompkins, Hiwatha “Buck” Johnson, and Jerome Johnson; aunts, Doris Johnson, Karen Mastin, Gail Tompkins, and Mildred Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
