Funeral service for Mr. Vaughn will be:1:00pm ~ ThursdayTabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Florence, AlabamaPastor Walter Bailey, officiatingInterment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence, ALThe body will be placed in the church at 12:00 Noon.Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, 5-7:00pm.Mr. Harvey Vaughn was born in Florence, Alabama on November 29, 1949 and later traveled across the country. He lived and worked in, among other places, Akron, Ohio; Hollywood, California; Atlanta, Georgia; and Dallas, Texas. He attended Akron University studying filmmaking. He enjoyed photography, sports, swimming, working out, and spending time with his family and friends. Harvey joined Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, and served faithfully as a Trustee under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Walter Bailey. He took his relationship with the Lord very seriously, and spent time reflecting on his life's direction. He often invited members of his family to attend church with him. Harvey took an interest in Black History, and did some research in that area. He also spent a great deal of time making sure his family was in good spirits and worked to make sure everyone got along.Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Bertha Vaughn; his father, William Irons, and two of his brothers, Ralph Jerry Vaughn and Ronnie Darnell Vaughn.Those left to cherish his memories are four brothers, Elder Lee Otis (Val) Johnson Sr., San Diego, California; Bennie A. (Ann) Johnson; and James Louis Vaughn, all of Florence, Alabama; and Minister Elvin Ray Vaughn, Muscle Shoals, Alabama; six sisters, Odessa Bailey, Linda Vaughn, and Adrain Haney, all of Florence, Alabama; Tammy (Charles) Crayton, Huntsville, Alabama; Helen Irons, Albany, Georgia; and Ora Mai Guyton of Chicago, Illinois. One aunt: Mrs. Bessie Louise Davis, Florence, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Florence, directing
