Deacon Jessie W. Canty was born January 31, 1936, and departed this life on March 12, 2026. He was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama to the late John M. Anderson and Ida Canty Burnette.
He graduated from the Crenshaw County School System. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army for seven years and received an honorable discharge, and was a member of Hopewell Lodge 198.
He dedicated forty-one years as a machinist to Rolls Incorporated in Leighton, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Michelle Canty Napier; six brothers; and two sisters.
Jessie leaves to cherish his loving memories: loving and devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Gladys Carter Canty; devoted grandson (his Poopsie), C.J. Napier; great-granddaughter, CaMari Jade Napier; granddaughter in love, Jada Cochran; second grandson, Jadyous Roberson; devoted son-in-law, Christopher B. Napier; three brothers: Morris (Recka) Burnette, Atlanta, Georgia, Willie and Jimmy Burnette, Brantley, Alabama; five sisters, Clara Anderson, New Jersey; Mary Burnette, Owatha Burnette and Leatha Burnette all from Brantley, Alabama; two brother-inlaws, Hillard (Harriett) Carter, Leighton, Alabama, and Percy Lee Stover of Florence, Alabama; four sisters-in-law, Carrie Mae Davis, Leighton, Alabama, Elizabeth Lewis, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Yvonne Carter, Chicago, Illinois, and Martha Carter, Sheffield, Alabama; one godchild: China Smith, Leighton, Alabama; special friends, Oswald (Ozzie) Mullins, Percy Miller, Glen Hand, Anthony Napier and Reverend Larry Bonner; special nieces (caretakers), Deneka Davis, Jalyric Davis, Courtney Burnette, Tequila Davis, Denise Smith, and Jada Cochran; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
