Larry Charles Houston, 91, of Cherokee, Alabama, passed away on January 25, 2025. Born on October 4, 1933, in Town Creek, Alabama, he was the son of the late Robert James Houston Sr.
and Janie Brown-Houston. Larry dedicated over 30 years of his life to working at Robbins Tire & Rubber before retiring. He was a proud provider and a devoted family man, whose love for his family knew no bounds.
Larry cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and will be remembered for his, sense of humor, unwavering love and kind heart. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Flora M. Houston; his daughter, Nancy Houston- Holton; his parents, Robert and Janie Houston; three sisters, Annie L. Houston-Johnson, Helen Houston-Brown, and Rose L. Houston; two brothers, Benny R. Houston and Robert J. Houston, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Houston-Cobb of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren, Felicia Holton, Davina Holton, Alicia Griffan, Devin Houston, Melissa Houston, Lawrence Holton, and Melanie Griffan, Miami, FL; Sister-In-Law, Annie B. Davis, nine nephews, Pastor Rickey Houston, Phillip Houston, Dana Houston, Anthony Houston, Eric Houston, Lamar Houston, Reginald Mead, Kenneth Long and Marvin Long; eight nieces, Deborah Chatman, Janice Houston, Charlotte Campbell, Felicia Gunn, Sandra Hall, Gloria Bates, Patricia Crittenden, Shelia Holland; and 22 great-grandchildren. Any many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. His love and legacy will continue through his family for generations to come.
Larry’s quiet strength, love for his family, his big appetite, love of sweets and the lasting impact he made will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
