Larry Anderson Saxton was born in Franklin County, Alabama. He was the first of five children born to the late Vester J. Saxton and Gladys G. Saxton on March 17, 1948.
Larry joined Antioch CME Church, Russellville, Alabama at an early age. He received his formal education at Reedtown High School in Russellville, Alabama. After high school Lary enlisted in
the United States Marine Corps and became a Marine Lance Corporal serving with the Ninth Engineer Battalion, First Marine Division in Vietnam. While serving his country, Larry was wounded in the line of duty and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vester J. Saxton and Gladys G. Saxton; grandparents, Eddie Gholston, Frank Gholston, Ludie Saxton, and Ed Saxton; and two sisters, Shirley J. Saxton and Ora L. Saxton Ross.
His memory will be cherished by loving and devoted siblings, Bruce W. Saxton and Vanessa A. Saxton; one aunt, Willie B. Hillman; one niece, Florence V. Smith (Myron); one nephew, Justin J. Ross (Hannah); two great-nephews, Christopher D. Saxton and Isiah Pruitt; two great-nieces, Treyvia A. Pruitt and Mya A. Smith one great-great niece, Alaya Jade Saxton; a special devoted and caring friend, Juanita Belue; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
