Larry "Texas" Gordon, II Obituary

Larry Gordon II, affectionately known as “Texas”, was born into this world on the tenth day of February 1987 to Elizabeth Gordon Frierson and Larry Gordon, Sr. As a teenager, he accepted Christ into his life, joining First Missionary Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama. He lived life as a born again believer and his love for Christ always remained in his heart.

He attended DHS school graduating class of 2006. He loved sports but basketball truly became his passion at Deshler. In 2011, he entered the US Navy where he served as a proud member until 2016. This is where Texas shined so BRIGHT! During his time in the US Navy, he received the Navy and Marine achievement medal, Navy unit commendation, Navy “E” Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service medal, Global War on Terrorism expedition medal, sea service deployment ribbon.

He also attended Stillman College in 2024, pursuing a career in computer science.

He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, compassion for others, his contagious smile, and the love he showed for his family.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Emma Goodloe; maternal grandfather, Lardell Goodloe, Sr.; maternal uncle, Bernie Goodloe of Austin, TX; maternal aunt, Gerniece Goodloe of Muscle Shoals; paternal grandmother, Thelma Gordon; paternal uncle, William Gordon; paternal aunt, Valarie Gordon, all of Miami, FL.
