Mr. Malcolm Jerome Woods was born on January 8, 1961, to the late Willard and Alberta Woods. He departed this life on Monday, July 1, 2025, following a brief illness.
Affectionately known as “Mac,” Malcolm was a joyful and loving presence to all who knew him. Though he had no biological children, he wholeheartedly embraced the role of father, uncle, and friend to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and even great-great-nieces and nephews — each of whom he cherished as his own.
Malcolm remained a faithful member of the church until his health no longer allowed him to attend. His smile, warm hugs, and gentle spirit touched countless lives, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Alberta Woods; his brother, Sylvester O’Neal; his sister, Joyce Ann Woods; and his nephew, Fredrick Dominic Cawthon.
Malcolm leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted siblings Linda Sue Malone of Rockford, IL; Willie Louis (Patricia) Woods of Rogersville, AL; Brenda Harden of Rogersville, AL; Vickel (Fred) Cawthon of Nashville, TN; and Sharon Woods of Rogersville, AL.
A very special niece and devoted caregiver, Deonia “Donna” Malone, will especially remember his presence with love. He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews: Roderick (Sharlene) Parker, Gail Malone, Aurick (Chandra) Woods, Reginald (Candice) Woods, Casey Woods, Adrian Cawthon, Darren Sadler, Nichole Harden, Justin (Aliyah) Woods, Pervis Sadler, Chauncey Sadler, and Quinton Woods.
He also leaves behind a host of great-nieces and nephews, one great-great-nephew, and one great-great-niece. Malcolm’s life was also richly blessed by the friendship of Tommie Coffee, Michael Jones, a loving extended family, and many cherished friends.
Precious memories, oh how they linger — and so will the joy Malcolm brought to all of our lives.
