Mamie Inez Ragland was born to James and Ossie Casey on October 8th, 1940.
She dedicated her life to Christ at a very early age. She was a faithful member of Nichols Chapel AME Church, where she served on the Missionary Board and as a Mother of the Church.
She answered to many names. Ma, Momma, Grandma, Grandma Mamie, Miss Mamie, and Aunt Mamie. She was loved by all who came to know her. She encouraged those who came into her presence. She was loving, kind, generous, and had the patience of a saint. She treated everyone like family. She was a strong God-fearing woman. She said that the Lord was her strength, and he would have the final say.
She was proceeded in death by her parents: Ossie and James Casey, one daughter: Caron "Sue" Russell; four brothers: Robert, Felix, Richard, and Richmond; two sisters: Annie and Mary; and one grandson: Anthonet "Rico" Russell.
She leaves to cherish her memories a son: James Casey Sr. Harvest, AL; two sisters: Warnetta Casey, Florence, AL; Martha Casey, Washington, DC; seven grandchildren: Porschia Russell, Madison, AL, Christopher (Fatin) Russell, Florence, AL, James (Amber) Casey Jr., Baltimore, MD, Jumeca Evens, Washington, DC, Briana Mercer, Rockville, MD, Quand Reeder and Quint Reeder, Florence, AL; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
