Roger Pride, officiatingInterment in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia, AlabamaThe body will be placed in the church one hour prior.Visitation with the family will be held Friday, 6-8:00pm.Margaret was born October 26, 1945 to Annie Margaret King and Percy L. Ricks of Leighton, Alabama.Margaret confessed Christ at an early age at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama until the early 1970's.Being the virtuous woman that she was (as described in Proverbs 31), she later joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, Alabama until her death.At Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church she worked diligently in many areas of the church. She served on the Usher Board for more than thirty years. She also served on the Missionary Society and a member of the Mother's Board until her death.Margaret attended elementary and secondary school at Leighton Training School in Leighton,Alabama. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree and her Masters in Education from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. Her career began in the Colbert County Head Start Program. She continue to teach and touch many lives in The Muscle Shoals School System for more than twenty-eight years. She is the co-owner of Burt's Carpet Cleaning & Janitorial Services.Margaret was a member of Condolence Chapter #85 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The National Education Association. She was affiliated with many other organizations.Margaret united in Holy Matrimony on October 23, 1965 to her high school sweetheart, Thomas Howard Burt. To this union was born two lovely children; Michael and Yvette.Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers Charles King and Norman Ricks.She is survived her husband; Thomas Howard Burt; one son, Michael A. Burt of Congers, GA,One daughter, Yvette Burt Mason(Larry) of Pleasant Grove, Al; Two Grandsons, Ryan and Myles Mason of Pleasant Grove, Al; Mother, Mrs. Annie Margaret King of Leighton, Al; Father, Mr. Percy L. Ricks(Penny) of Chattanooga, TN; One devoted and special nephew and niece, Mr. James and Sherry Burt of Muscle Shoals, Al; One sister, Mrs. Regina(Michael) Edwards of Chattanooga, TN; One special sister/cousin, Mrs.Elizabeth "Liz" McCray of Atlanta, GA; Five brothers, Mr. George(Maria) Ricks, Mr. Anthony Ricks, Mr. Al-Kareem(Florence) Abdullah, Mr. Johnnie Ricks all Chattanooga, TN; Mr. David Ricks of Japan. Three Aunts, Ms. Louise Mullins of Chicago, IL; Ms. Virginia Sanders of Muscle Shoals, Al; Mrs. Irene Johnson of Forest City, AK.
