Marie Y. Holiday

MARIE YVETTE ROBINSON HOLIDAY, 90, was born November 6, 1934, to the late Edward A. Robinson and Ora Mae Robinson in Cherokee, Alabama. Marie quietly
departed this life peacefully on February 5, 2025, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Facility.

Marie was a graduate of Cherokee High School, Class of 1955. Shortly thereafter, on June 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Thomas L. Holiday.

Marie became a member of the Church of Christ in the early 1960s. She received many awards and accolades for her dedicated services to the Lord. She received a Honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree in 2014 from Heritage Christian University. On March 21, 2023, the Biblical Studies Collection at Heritage Christian University Overton Library was dedicated and named in honor of Thomas and Marie Holiday. On March 25, 2025, she will be recognized with the Founders Award at Heritage Christian University. For many years, she raised money for scholarships at Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas.

Marie was also active in her community. She was a member of the Cherokee Lions Club and volunteered at the Cherokee Library.

Marie leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband of 69 years, Thomas L. Holiday; four children, Teresa Thompson, Belinda Fears, Constance Simmons, and Thomas Holiday (Keisa); seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Bessie Lloyd.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ora Mae Robinson; two sisters, Evelyn Sledge, Flora Dupar; two brothers, Edward Robinson, Jr., Dallas Robinson; and grandson, Marcus Thompson.

Marie also leaves two special sisters-in-law, Johnnie Cooper and Carlene Humes; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.

Marie’s smile, infectious sense of humor, loving spirit, and kind heart will be missed by all.
