Ray Chatman Obituary

Ray Anthony Chatman was born October 26, 1954 in Chattanooga, TN to Mr. Howard and Mrs. Elizabeth Chatman. He departed this world on March 28, 2010 at ECM Hospital. He confessed his Life to Christ at Rock Island Baptist Church in Chattanooga. He also attended school there. After the death of his parents he moved to Knoxville, TN. He lived with his beloved sister Lela Turner and Family.He graduated from Rule High School in Knoxville, TN and relocated to Barton, Alabama where he resided with his Uncle Robert Lee and Aunt Betsy Petty and Family.He met and married Joyce Ann Goodloe of Cherokee AL August 5, 1978. They were blessed with two children, their first born son, Derrick R. Chatman and second born daughter Jori E. Chatman. His life was his family. He was so proud of his children and theiraccomplishment. He wanted them to grow and be able to take care of themselves with and education. His favorite say was "do not have a home until you make your own". He knew that at the end of his journey, Joyce, Derrick and Jori would be okay.He was currently employed by Southwire Company of Florence, ALHe was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Howard and Mrs. Elizabeth Chatman, Sisters, Gurlean Smith, Georgia Garth, Delma Maclin and brother Howard Chatman, Jr.He is survived by his wife of 31 years Joyce Goodloe Chatman, son Derrick R. Chatman, daughter Jori E. Chatman all of of Florence AL a special loving sister Lela Turner, Knoxville, TN, Ollie D. Kendrick, Indianapolis, IN Brother, Ralph Chatman, Chattanooga TN and Ronald Chatman (Debra) Chattanooga, TN.Mother In law Carolyn Goodloe, Cherokee, AL. Sister in Laws Debra Johnson (Percy), Freda Goodloe, Bridgette Goodloe Cherokee, AL and Beryl Goodloe (Cameron) Brother in Law Daron Goodloe Muscle Shoals, AL.. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and FriendsSpecial cousins Otis and Glenn Petty of Barton, AL.
