Reverend Estes Lee Thompson was born March 19, 1941, to Lonnie Sr. and Elzater Thompson.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. He later joined Rutland Chapel C.M.E. Church in 1997. He was ordained as Elder in Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in July 2003.
Estes graduated from Cherokee High School in 1960. He was in the United States Army from 1960 until 1963. He later received certificates in Automobile Mechanics and Air Conditioning at Muscle Shoals Technical Institute.
He was a dedicated, loyal, and reliable employee for Reynolds’s for over 30 years. Reverend Thompson also pastored Real Chapel, St. James, and Brown Temple.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lonnie Sr. and Elzater Thompson; two daughters, Ingrid Michelle Qualls and Cassondra Roach; three brothers, Lonnie Jr. Thompson (Christine), Charles Thompson (Lemyrtle), and Floyd Thompson; two sisters, Lula Curtis (Robert) and Elois Gunn (Arthur); mother and father-in-law, Milton Sr. and Bernice Daniels; and two brothers- in-law, Travis Daniels and Milton Daniels, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Shirley Thompson; a daughter, Larissa Sabrina Thompson-Simmons (Fabian); seven grandchildren, Indria Ronnae Qualls, Ronald Qualls, Jr. (Brittany), Kiera Qualls, Jairius Roach, Jarissa Roach, Christian Simmons, and Isaiah Simmons; three great-granddaughters, Ryleigh Qualls, Hayleigh Qualls, and Presley Qualls; a brother, Chaise Thompson (Allean); sister-in-law, Nina Pride; brother-in-law, Phillip Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
