In loving memory or celebration of life for Sylverta Croom who was called home by the Lord on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the tender age of ninety.
Sylverta Croom was born on May 11, 1934, in Barton Al to Albert Trotter and Maddie Oates Trotter. She was born the seventh child of seven children. She attended Cherokee High School in Cherokee, AL and graduated with the class of 1951.
She was preceded in death by her Husband: Napoleon Croom Sr, Son-Napoleon Croom, Jr. Parents: Albert and Maddie Trotter. Brothers: Ulysteen Oates, John Oates, Walter Oates. Sisters: Guernice Holmes, Izola Jones, Clyntell Johnson. Sylverta was devoted to the LOVE of her life Napoleon Croom, Sr. and they shared 70 years of a strong, loving and committed union in which they had 3 wonderful children. She taught her children to be respectful, giving and kind.
Sylverta confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and has been a member of High Street Church of Christ, Tuscumbia, for over 70 years
She worked in the retail store industry and was the first African American woman in the Shoals area to work as a sales clerk in high end retail store- The Bootery and Parisian store.
She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Reginald Croom, Sr (Carolyn), daughter, Melanie Croom Bell (Steven). grandchildren: Reggie Croom (Rhonda), Steven Bell, Hunter Bell, Thaddeus Bell, Princess Bell, Patrick White, Ashley Holder. great grandchildren: Raven Croom. Rylinn Croom, Trey Croom, Twins- Rasheem Croom and Rhea Croom, Ashton Boone; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, whom she loved so very much.
