Warnetta Louise Casey was born on September 19, 1946, to James and Ossie Casey.
She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. Ms. Casey was a devoted member of Nichols Chapel AME Church before transferring her membership to Bailey Springs AME Church, where she served faithfully as Treasurer, Church Mother, and a member of the Missionary Board.
Known affectionately as “PeeWee” by many, she was called “Ma” by her "one and only," and later answered to “GG,” a name lovingly given to her by her grandchildren that she carried for over two decades.
Ms. Casey was known for her strong-willed personality and valued her independence. Guided by her faith, she often expressed, “God is in control.” In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing softball while working at H.D. Lee and later became an avid bowler, traveling across numerous states to participate in tournaments for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ossie Casey; five brothers: Felix, Robert, Richard, Richmond, and James L.; and three sisters: Mamie, Annie, and Mary.
Ms. Casey is survived by her daughter, Aretha; four grandchildren: Quanza, Dedrick, Errin, and Geremy; and bonus granddaughter, Justice. She also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren: Akira, Preston, Jayden, Tavien, Drake, Cypress, Tyson, Olivia, Enzo, Elise, Mckennlie, Kiya, Kambre', and Kaliah; one sister, Martha Casey, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends include Johnnie Dollerson and Willie Brannon.
Lastly, she is remembered fondly for her companionship with her beloved dog and roommate, Precious.
