Annie Cole Obituary
Annie Pearl Cole, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022, after an extended illness.
Annie was born on July 13, 1928, in Leighton, Alabama, to Annie C. Lewis King and W.B. King.
Annie loved to laugh, spend time with her beloved friends and family, and make the house that she and husband Paul built into a home.
Annie was a woman of faith who accepted Christ at an early age. Her most recent church home was High Street Church of Christ in Tuscumbia.
Annie met Paul Cole when they were both working in downtown Sheffield, and the two married on December 24, 1966.
Always a sharp dresser, Annie could make a routine trip to the mall feel like a walk down a fashion runway, complete with heels and matching handbag. Friends and family are comforted by their memories of her wit, strength, generosity and sense of style.
Annie was a hard worker whose employers included Holiday Inn and WVNA.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 55 years, Paul Cole of Sheffield, Alabama; daughter Jessie Cunningham of Homewood, Illinois; son Harry O. Ray (Annie) of Griffin, Georgia; granddaughters Valerie Hawkins of Homewood, Illinois, Karen Hawkins of Chicago, and Opal Ray (Coby) and great granddaughter McKenzie Ray, all of Homewood, Illinois; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; dear friend Glenda Williams; and a host of other relatives, loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arthur Montgomery (Mon) King, sister Maple King Little, and grandson Aaron Hawkins.
